In an interview, Rockstar Games made a confirmation about the fact that Red Dead Revolver (2004) and Red Dead Redemption (2010) are sibling films. He said that Red Dead Revolver (2004) is the masculine brother, while Red Dead Redemption (2010) is the femine sister of the pair.

The reference 'gang of outlaws' is a reference to the film Rebel Without A Cause (1955).
